Is Bitcoin the new gold standard?


It soared from zero five years ago to above $600 last month. According to Malta-based brokerage, Exante it is behind “the best performing hedge fund in history”. Its global computing power is 256 times faster than the top 500 supercomputers, combined. The Chinese have banned it. On tonight with Bruce Whitfield we look at Bitcoins — a currency that has no physical properties but is taking the world by storm. And joining Bruce for the discussion is Marcus Swanepoel, co-founder of Switchless, which owns BitX, a market platform that allows individuals to trade Bitcoin using South African Rands and Arthur Goldstuck, MD of World Wide Worx.
